Who We Treat
According to a 2024 study published in JAMA Network Open, nearly 29% of U.S. adults suffer from some form of iron deficiency.
That’s nearly 1 in 3 people. In September 2026, hematologists raised the cutoff for low iron, so some people once told they were normal may now be low. Even so, the levels that a lab considers normal are often quite lower than the levels needed to achieve symptom relief and optimal health.
Iron deficiency and its symptoms show up differently depending on who you are and what your body is going through. Below are the patients we see most often. If you recognize yourself in any of these, it’s worth a closer look.

Iron Infusion Is Ideal For Those With..
The result is a slow depletion that builds over years, fatigue that feels normal because it’s been so long since you felt any other way, a brain that feels foggy, a body that feels heavier than it should.
You’ve probably been told your labs are “normal.” They may not be. Ferritin is not routinely checked and the standard lab reference ranges for ferritin haven’t been updated since the 90’s. Specialists now know that symptoms of iron deficiency begin at levels your lab report would still deem acceptable.

And yet postpartum non-anemic iron deficiency is chronically under-diagnosed, its symptoms (exhaustion, difficulty concentrating, emotional dysregulation, low mood) are routinely attributed to environment rather than a treatable medical condition.

The result is often diffuse thinning or shedding that shows up months after the deficiency actually started, which makes the connection easy to miss.
Dermatologists treating hair loss typically target a ferritin well above the standard lab “normal”, that’s the range where regrowth improves. If you’ve been told your iron is fine but your hair says otherwise, it’s worth checking the actual number, not just whether it’s in range.

A sixteen-year-old getting sugary iced beverages and skipping iron-rich foods who also has a heavy period may have a very low ferritin. The symptoms look like everything else teenagers struggle with: fatigue, difficulty focusing in school, mood swings, poor sleep. Iron deficiency in adolescents is profoundly underdiagnosed and undertreated. We see teenagers. We treat them gently. And we coordinate with their pediatricians and parents every step of the way.

The gut simply cannot absorb it reliably, and the attempt often causes significant GI distress. IV iron is not a last resort for these patients, it is the first and most effective route. We work closely with gastroenterologists and understand the complex relationship between GI disease and iron deficiency.
Your infusion plan will be designed around your specific condition and clinical history.

The symptoms, fatigue, brain fog, disrupted sleep, low mood, difficulty concentrating, overlap so completely with hormonal symptoms that iron deficiency is rarely identified as a contributing factor.
If you are in perimenopause and not feeling like yourself, your ferritin deserves a check.

If you’ve tried iron supplements and either couldn’t tolerate them or saw no real improvement, an IV infusion is your next step. It delivers iron directly into your bloodstream, completely bypasses your digestive system, and works.

Female athletes are especially vulnerable, layering athletic iron loss on top of menstrual losses. The result is often a slow decline in performance, energy, and recovery that gets mistaken for overtraining or normal fatigue, when it’s actually a treatable iron deficiency. A ferritin check is one of the highest-yield, most overlooked tests for athletes whose performance has quietly plateaued.

Specialists treating RLS typically target a ferritin well above the standard lab “normal” because that’s where symptoms actually improve. If you’ve been told your iron is fine but your legs and your sleep say otherwise, it’s worth a second look at the number, not just whether it falls in range.
